Hello AND WELCOME!

My name is Chris and I live in beautiful Central Oregon, surrounded by lakes, trees, mountains, wildlife — all great  sources of inspiration.  My background is in elementary education and I was a teacher for  many years, both in the States and overseas. Eleven years of my career  were spent at an International School in Japan, working with and meeting  kids and their parents from all over the world. It was a wonderful  experience! I learned about different cultures, traveled, met interesting  people and heard their stories, and recorded my adventures with photos  and journaling.  I’ve always enjoyed different creative pursuits — taking pictures, writing, lettering, sewing, and dabbling in artsy activities of all sorts.  Several years ago I began making cards for family and friends. I loved the whole process because so many of my interests came together in one spot. One of my sons encouraged me to try and sell some of the cards and, luckily, a local, independent bookstore (Sunriver Books and Music)  welcomed me and my creations. Most of the cards I make now feature  hand-lettered quotes (from the huge stash that I’ve collected over the years), along with photos that I’ve and altered in an “artistic” way.  Recently, this same son encouraged me to expand my little business and offered to help me. That’s how Anna Edelia Designs came about.  I find great joy in knowing that my cards encourage people to connect with one another. It makes me really happy to think that one of my creations “speaks” to someone who then sends it off to another person with the message that he or she is thought about.  By the way, the name Anna Edelia comes from my Swedish maternal  grandmother — but that’s another story of connection and inspiration that  I can share sometime in Musings.  In the meantime, please enjoy browsing through my site.
